The Ultimate Price

I was recently asked what my favorite toys were as a child. I might have been a little different than most girls. I loved my favorite baby doll, but I equally loved playing with Army Jeeps.

I grew up during the Vietnam War. I watched the news with my parents. I remember my mom crying, and my dad shaking his head in disgust about all our soldiers dying for another countries cause. I'd go outside and become the Super Nurse who saved everyone. I jumped in my jeep, and arrived just in time to save every soldier! I never tired, and was invincible from bombs or gunfire!

Ironically, I'd still like to be the super hero who saves everyone, but I can't. People make choices and they have to live with the consequences. Sometimes I have no idea how to help, other times my advice is slung like dung to the closest flusher.

Imagine how Jesus felt as He faced Calvary for you and me. The perfect lamb, who knew no sin, yet He was about to die for our sins. He was the perfect solution; His perfect life crucified, to pay for our eternal life. Yet there would be those who would reject His ultimate love and sacrifice.

"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father glorify your name!" John 12:27 & 28 (NIV)

"Then Jesus cried out, "When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." John 12: 44-46

Timing is Vital

"For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a man's misery weighs heavy on him. since no man knows the future, who is to tell him what is to come?" Ecclesiastes 8-5 and 6 (NIV)

"Trust Him at all times, O people pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62:8 (NIV)

Have you ever noticed there is a timing and rhythm to almost everything in life? For example if baby sea turtles hatch in the morning sunlight, they are likely to be breakfast for birds, alligators or other predators, on their way to the water. But if they hatch before the light they are likely to scurry to the ocean before anything knows they've hatched.

God's timing in every situation is vital. Let Him prompt your actions. Don't delay or jump ahead of His leading. He will use you in His time! In His time He makes all things beautiful!

The Naked Man...

About five years ago, my sister came down from Michigan for a visit. I took her to all my familar "goat trails, "as she called them. One of the "best places" I saved for last, in Dawsonville GA.

When we arrived we had to carefully get down this step hill. As we walked along this narow path, she grabbed me. Her big brown eyes seemed as big as saucers. "Kathy, there's a naked man, and he's coming right for us." I laughed I thought she was probably tired and didn't want to venture any farther.

"Come on Steph, this is a beautiful place. You have to see it." with tears in her eyes she said, "Kathy, I'm going back to the car." She turned around and started to run.

I've always been a pretty good runner, so I looked down the path and didn't see any one. I decided to crunch down and wait a minute. I was right in the "Y" of the path. I thought, we'll if there is a naked man, he's probably just a streaker and he'll stay away from me. If he comes at me...well then he's a bad egg, and I'll catch up with Steph.

All of a sudden there he was! Naked as a jay bird, the hairiest person I've ever seen in my whole life! And that certain part, well it was just a swingin.' He could have directed the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from the 50 yard line of a football field. Not only that; he was heading right for me!

I screamed, "Holy *hit!" I took off on one of the fastest sprints I've ever ran. Very quickly, I caught up with my younger sister. Her eyes were still huge. "You seen him, didn't you?"

"Yeah, he's right behind us." I grabbed her arm and we flew up the path. The naked jay bird was right behind us. We reached the the big hill, very quickly. I shoved Steph's hinnie. "Move your @$$ up that hill!"

As tears rolled down her cheeks, she yelled back, "You and your damn goat trails. I ain't never going with you again." Well dang, we were both older and fatter. I just knew she'd never make it up that hill before old nasty got a hold of one or both of us. If this guy raped either of us we would have never got all of his nastiness or hair off.

I grabbed the biggest rock I could pick up. As I swung around to hit him in his head, he was was gone. I gave Steph, another push. We finally made it back to the van. We jumped in and locked the doors. I was so out of breath from an asthma attack, I thought I was gonna die. I was frantically was throwing things out of my purse trying to find my inhaler. Just as I stuck it in my mouth, I looked over there was Stephie sticking a cigareette in her mouth.

"Don't you dare! Are you trying to kill me?" She pulled the cigarette out of her mouth. "When did you get asthma?"

Gasping I said, "Well, when did you start smoking again?" We both just cracked up laughing. We laughed so hard that we cried. Poor Steph, it was her birthday, and she had soaked herself from her crotch all the way down to her shoes! She looked like she had a pair of riding chaps on.

"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not grow faint." Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

(Steph, I'm sorry I didn't get to finish showing you this place in person. You'll be happy to know they put a real nice set of steps in, and even a real nice walk way! It was a great walk today and there was no naked man! )

Beyond Your Wildest Dreams...

"Where there is great love there are always miracles! The intensity of your feelings, will cause good things beyond your wildest dreams."

- author unknown

In my lifetime I have seen miracles beyond my wildest dreams. God has done more than I ever imagined. He has let me see more beauty than I ever dreamed of. When I consider what could have been, I sometimes get depressed about missed fortunes that have slipped through my fingers like sand through my fingers. But The Good Lord reminds me so quickly through friends and family, that I have been blessed with love that most only dream about.

The love I have in family and friends is constantly growing, it's permanent not fading. I wouldn't trade what I've gained with God, in love and friendship for all the money or things this world could ever offer!

"Look to the Lord and His Strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders He has done his miracles and the judgements he pronounced, O descendants of Israel his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones."

1 Chronicles 16:11-13

My Lord knows just what I need to make me what I need to be for His kingdom, and His glory! Praise God from whom All Blessings Flow!

Just Once is Never Enough

"So my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God. For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore the fruit of death." Romans 7:4 & 5 (NIV)

When we become new creatures in Christ the sin nature does not die in us. But the Holy Spirit lives in us. Free Will allows us to choose good or evil. We constantly have to guard our hearts and minds against temptation.

GA. is considering legalizing gambling, some people believe it will help the "Economic Crisis." Don't be deceived by stupid traps. Gambling quickly becomes a very addictive behavior, that is known to suck the very life out of families and marriage. It's easier not to entertain temptation in the beginning, before thoughts become actions.

If you researched places like Nevada and Virginia's gambling woes, you'd quickly understand that with gambling comes an increase of prostitution, foreclosures and additional welfare cases due to addictions in those states. So many addicts start their habits with just a little thought. Thoughts become "a one time sin"; but the once just isn't enough. Sin has a sickening way of drawing us in for a taste and then strangling us with a lasting grip. "One time sins," often become the fatal fall into a very deep pit.

If you stood on a slippery rock and put just one foot in an icy rushing stream how long would it take that rushing water to pull your very soul under?

-Not very long, I promise, don't be deceived by, "just once."

We Can fix the Economic Crisis!

I was listening to a show on the History channel, concerning the Great Depression. By no means would I consider myself an expert on economics, but I have been told more than once, I do understand and evaluate economics well.

Yes, I do believe the world is in an economic crisis. True values of goods and services need to get back to reality in every form of business and service and in the manufacturing business of the world. The fastest way to correct the economic mess we've all put ourselves into comes down to some very basic principles.

Every society must grow and make what they need to sustain themselves within their culture. For example, most of us eat bread. We need a farmer, a baker and a place called home to eat that bread. Because we are all individuals with different talents we me can depend on ourselves and others in those societies to help maintain and exchange skills that produce the services and products we need. We must keep the economic chain going within each region of the world in order to sustain the livelihood for all.

You can not buy, without working and producing the equal amount of what you are buying. If China has something we can't grow or make, we can not afford to buy from them without sustaining our own manufactures here first. Without balance and true value of worth there is going to be failure and depression.

Everyone needs a job to maintain the basics in life, such as a home, food and clothing. Bartering is a very basic principle, but it's the truest form of trade. I'm not suggesting we go back to bartering, but we do need a realistic economic system where we all live within our means. Economic wealth needs to be shared at home first. Economic trade abroad should only be allowed after needs at home are met; and only with the surplus if there is any.

"By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Genesis 3:19 (NIV) The curse of Adam demands we all work!

Does Prayer Make a differance?

"I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger and disputing." 1 Timothy 2:8 (NIV)

''So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

"Which of you fathers if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg will give him a scorpion? If you then who are evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Luke 11:9-13 (NIV) (Jesus said this.)

If we are lacking in anything we need to go to Jesus. He will supply all our needs according to His great riches.

"May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you."

Psalm 67:1-3 (NIV)

"Then the land will yield it's harvest, and God, our God will bless us. God will bless us, and all the ends of earth will fear him." Psalm 67:6 and 7 (NIV)

What is the Driving Force in Your Life?

"The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." 1 Timothy 1:5 (NIV)

The more I study the Bible the clearer it becomes that God looks at the heart first. Love is the driving force that He is looking for. Love for God creates a pure heart that earnestly seeks God's will. It also creates a sincere faith.

When you examine your thoughts what drives your motives?

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason, I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 1 Timothy 1:15 and 16 (NIV)

Jesus Christ became the Ultimate Redeemer for any sinner who sincerely believes in Him and accepts his forgiveness and grace.

God's presence seems so Close in the mountains.

A few years ago Mark and I was visiting extended family on Tuscumbia Mountain in Alabama. As a child I spent a lot of time up there with my Great Grandpa Casey and my mothers family. I remember my Grandma Rose's brother, Troy telling me, "Kathlene, you're back in the mountains now. You need to stay in the mountains girl, it's where you belong. It's best to stay near God and kin."

I never forgot that, I think there is a part of me that does feel closer to God and my roots in the mountains. As Mark and I walked the path to Duke Creek Falls today, I swear it felt as if the very breath of God was breathing down on me. I never want to loose that closeness to God my Father. I would rather have Jesus than anything this world has to offer!

"So do not worry, saying," What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:31-34 (NIV)

May your roots grow deep and may your skin stay tough, but keep your heart soft and supple. May your heart dance to the Savior's Rhythm!

Friends I will remember you, think of you and pray for you....

It is amazing to me how reassuring and wonderful the people I call friends are to me. I can spend a little time with them and they absolutely seem to bring peace and purpose to my life. I spent the afternoon with one of my best friends, today.

Her presence made me happy and complete. I'm so thankful that God gives us wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ. We truly can have "forever friends" when we are bound together in Him! What a wonderful gift friendship is!

Friends are friends forever when the Lord's the Lord of them! The love never stop; it lives on long after the bodies grow cold and turn back to dust. Aren't you glad our soul lives Forever?

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; his love endures forever. Cry out, "Save us, O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise."

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.

then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise to the Lord."

1 Chronicles 16: 34-36 (NIV) :) (;

Sometimes It's Best Just to Let Go!

"Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalm 16: 9-11 (NIV)

Heid if you see this, I found your letter you tucked away for me to find, thank you my sweet daughter. I love all three of you dear children, you are always my special blessings from God!

A long time ago when I was about 14 years old, I told my favorite cousin I would like to ride the fastest horse he had. We snuck out to the barn, and he put the bridle in her mouth. He helped me up on to her bare back. With a big grin he said, "Go ahead ride her fast!"

With a big grin I asked, "Okay, how do I make her go really fast?"

He slapped her backside and away we flew. David yelled, "Just kick her sides."

Holy Cow, we were flying right for Uncle Keith's corn field. Panic gripped me and I almost wet my pants. I pulled back on the reins and kicked as hard as I could!

We flew straight through the corn, knocking lot's of those big ears and tasseled stalks down. She was flying as fast as she could. I began to cry. Uncle Keith was gonna be so mad. I couldn't make her stop.

The sun was beaming down and it was so warm in the middle of the corn field. Everything looked so beautiful! I dropped the reins, and reached out to touch the tops of the corn. The horse began slowing down. My tears turned to laughter. What a wonderful experience!

The was sun warmed my cheeks and my hands were gently gliding over the silk corn tops. My short hair and body seemed to bounce in perfect time with the trot of the horse. I remember thinking, I wish this ride would last forever. That was a joy I'll never forget, but often go back to in times of stress. There was such a joy in letting go of the reins and just hanging on with my legs!

Eventually, she came to a stop, but what a wonderful experience! So much of life is like that ride. There will be times you have to let go and just enjoy the moment. It is Okay to let God take control; just release everything to Him.

Dr. Binderow my surgeon in Atlanta called this afternoon. There is nothing that can be done about my kidney situation. Although, I've experienced very little pain for the past few days. He can't believe the Chron's has moved to my bladder and urinary tract and wants to review the notes himself. He seems as frustrated as the rest of my family and close friends.

So my dear family and friends, it seems I have come to the last stretch of my race. But like Paul I'd like to say I've ran a good race and fought the good fight. Now we must all wait on my Savior to do as He sees best. As I cross that finish line, remember that for me this is the best of time and I will live in a beautiful place that will never end. ;) And you my dear ones will finish your race faster than you can imagine. Then I will welcome you home with one of my big hugs and kisses; heaven is when real life in Christ begins!

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. And know I'll love you always whether it's here or in heaven.

All my love,

Your Mom, sister and friend, Kathy :)

What does your Reflection look like?

"The best mirror is an old friend." George Herbert

Don't worry about what the outside looks like as much as what your actions shout about the "real you." Beauty really lies beneath your skin.

Like a fine bottle of wine, let the experiences, love and wisdom age you with true beauty! You don't have to grow old; just grow beautiful from the inside out!

"What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they can not fathom what God has done from the beginning to the end." Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 (NIV)

Email me and tell me what you think. :) kathlenefisher@yahoo.com

Build your life on the Rock of your Salvation

Jesus said to them,"I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who has given you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and give life to the world." John 6:32 (NIV)

"Give us this day our daily bread." Mathew 6:11 (KJV)

The church is a wonderful place to learn and grow. But to often I think people get so comfortable in it and with it, they often forget salvation does not come from the church. It's a gift from God through Christ Jesus. Don't forsake your selves from meeting in God's house, or alone together. Iron sharpens iron, and believers sharpen, shape and help each other grow.

Real growth in Christ will come from a personal relationship with Christ. What does that mean? After accepting the free gift of salvation you are then on the path to eternal life with Christ Jesus. The only way you will truly know what God wants from, and for you is through reading, studying and applying the Bible to your life. If you have a hard time understanding a certain version of the Bible, it is okay to find a version you can understand and read it daily. It's food for your soul.

You were created to glorify God. I can't think of a better way to grow in grace than to daily fill your mind, thoughts and actions with His word. Ask God to help you understand and apply His word to your life.

Every person in your life will fail you in some way if you know them for very long. Most of us never want to hurt others, but the sin nature we are born with makes it inevitable, we will. As believers we make up "the real church." Just as there are no perfect people there is no perfect church here on earth. That's why it is so important that you put your trust and faith in God and not in any person or place.

Jesus never fails, and He promises to be with you forever.

May God give you a heart that earnestly seeks Him daily. I hope you'll find a hunger for God's will that will keep you filling your soul from bible study and prayer daily. Have you ever considered that maybe the bread he was talking about in the Lord's prayer was actually His word instead of physical bread? Isn't your soul worth more than your very life? Remember your soul is permanent, but your physical body is temporary.

"Remember, the greatest gift is not found in a store or under a tree, but in the heart of true friends." Cindy Lew

I can honestly feel the difference when you pray, thank you! Yesterday I really wondered if it would be my last time to enter a new post to this blog. Thank you for praying, it does make a difference when God hears your prayers.

I thank God always for true friends who care enough to pray and love me. Your love, and God's help keep me going. I feel good today! The sun is shinning and I'm glad to be alive.

Know that I am praying and loving you as well. Your friendship and love are one of life's greatest treasures. I will carry them with me through eternity! Your friendship doubles my joy and divides my sorrow! God Bless and Keep you Always.

"Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and David loved him as himself." ...
1 Samuel 18:1
Read on through the Second book of Samuel. David had a very eventful life, that was full of the good, bad and ugly-but God continued to love him and Jonathan would have given his life for David.

True friends love us in spite of our short comings. God loves and cares for us more than anyone can. Please, know there are some of you reading this that I'd die a thousand times if it would help you know the value of a personal relationship with Christ or the value of true love. I do love you.

God Knows what is Best

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.
Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigourous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait on theLord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary."
Isaiah 40:28-31 NASB

Some of you may know, others don't know, but I have Chron's disease. It has moved into my urinary tract. I am likely to pass away pretty soon if nothing can be done surgically. Yes, it hurts more than you can imagine.

I never imagined I would go through a greiving process of lossing this life on earth, but I am. It hurts to know how I'm hurting those who love me. I wish I could take their pain away. But as I grow weaker, physically and mentally I find myself crying with them.

Selfishly, I long to be absent from this body and present with my Lord in a new body, especially when it hurts so bad, and I can't do much. Then I look at my family and feel and hear their tears. I truely am caught longing to be in both worlds. Please pray that God's Will will be done.

My heavenly Father really does know what's best. I am willing to endure whatever God wants me to do. Please pray for the grace I'm gonna need to live through another surgery, or go Home, which ever He wills is best.

And then, there's my Ugly Sinful nature...

I hate my sinful nature. It gets me in so much trouble and causes me to do the very things I don't want to do. It especially hurts God, which is what I hate. Today it's really raring it's head, please pray for me.

I'm trying to file for disability. Without an attorney it's virtually impossible to get! Believe me I've paid my dues in So....many ways. I set down to figure out what I've made in the past few years. Each year dwindling because of health issues. writing in general will make very few people wealthy. I love sharing and caring, but it's no way to make a living. It's much like dreams of being any kind of artist-simply pipe dreams that rarely, if ever come true.

To make a long story short the years as a Realtor were finally materializing and making a decent living. In my first "good year," at 43 I was diagnosed with Chron's disease. Since 2003 I've lived through 12 surgeries and 1 heart attack. My health is chronically failing. My husband and I are living on less than 1/10Th the income we use to. Frankly, only God makes the numbers and money work. God is always Good even when my sinful nature is crying and kicking up.

Please contact me if you'd like to by one of my $10.00 books titled, "Let's Really Live before We Die!" God knows we need to sell them. If you've already read it or are waiting for the next book, I'm working on it; but writing is never a lucrative income. God keeps supplying my needs, in spite of my complaints. I need to smile and be happy right? Thank you for your prayers and support. I'm hurting in more ways than one today.
God Bless you, Kathy

God is Always with you!

What if Jesus walked into the church you attended today, who would He set with? What a privilege and blessing He can be with each believer all the time, anytime, regardless of the crowd or your popularity, Jesus promises to be with you always.

God really does love each of us to meet us where we are; and keep us in His constant care. If you never realized how much God loves you consider how He knows and cares for every need you'll ever have.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I command you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Mathew 28: 19 and 20

Lord, please keep me laughing.

Lord keep me laughing, it helps so much in the trials, the pain and yes it even keeps me sane.

A captain of a ship was told in the midst of a fierce battle, "Sir, we are surrounded by fire on all sides!"

He quickly ordered his first mate to bring his red shirt as quickly as he could. He put it on and commanded his mates to fight on with all their might. They fought on and miraculously won the battle. Latter the first mate asked, "Sir, why did you ask for your red shirt in the midst of the fierce fight?"

"I asked for my red shirt in case I was shot. The red would have hid my wound, and my crew would fight on in spite of my wound or weakness."

"Ah Captain, what a courageous thought!"

"Yes and it worked!"

A few days latter again the first mate reported to the captain on board. "Sir, we are surrounded by ships on all four sides, and this time they all have missile launchers."

At this the captain hung his head. "I need you to bring me my brown pants at once!" ;) (: (Notice, a laugh or smile keeps friends close at heart.)

"You don't stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing." (Michael Pritchard)

Some of you have blessed me with your love and smiles for that I am eternally grateful! Thank you so much! Of all the possessions we will take into our eternal existence none of them will be anything materialistic. You will only take and leave love, music and what you've done for God.

Eternity will come sooner than any of us expect. Are you working for the right treasures?

"And He shall be the stability of your times. A wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge: The fear of the Lord is his treasure."
Isaiah 33:6 (NASB)

I would love to hear from you please email me at: kathlenefisher@yahoo.com!

God Wants You to Win!

"I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper to you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah chapter 29:12 and 13 NASB)

Maybe now more than ever we all need to know we have a Savior and other believers who want us to succeed. Please remember success isn't always measured by material wealth, good looks or an easy lifestyle. Without struggle in life few become anyone to speak of. The real measure of a man lies in the fullness of Christ's love and grace you live and pass on to others. Dig a little deeper for today's riches, see Ephesians chapter 3:14 through chapter4:16.

You are a winner in Christ Jesus. You have EVERYTHING you need in Him!
