I love going to church. Once in a while though, I do enjoy just going for a really long walk in the mountains and spending time with God on a mountain. On days like this I'd rather not talk, just listen and be close to Him. Have you ever done that?
Sometimes it takes over an hour to get to where we're going, but the sights, smells and sounds are worth the journey. Not all the roads are always pleasant, in fact we generally endure some tight curves, pot holes and a few drop offs that could be deadly. Most of the time there are good and bad things to see.
Isn't it funny how life's journey is also like that? We all experience the tight curves, when you just hold on to Jesus because He's the only secure thing in life at that time. There are always the pot holes of illness, or financial grief. Then there are the alluring spots where we think we can obtain wealth, maybe a life style we shouldn't have, or career that if we're not careful can take us over the edge and become the grand finally. Such is life!
Whatever this life brings you I hope you'll hold on to Jesus and enjoy the ride!
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea though it's waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells,God is within her and she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day." Psalm 46:1-5 (NIV)
"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for healing the nations." Revelation 22:1-2 (NIV)
One time when I was very sick, in Louisiana, I slipped into a comma. Mark said I slept for 3 days straight. I seen the River of Life. It was more beautiful than words can describe. Heaven was so wonderful; I didn't want to come back. The journey is great, but the destination is to die for! :)
