Christmas is my favorite time of the year, well except for Easter. I'm so amazed that God would love us so much and send His only Son to restore a relationship with us, through His Son's love, life, death and resurrection. There is no better gift than salvation!

I love having the kids here, the big meals, but mostly all the love and laughter we're sharing. Mark is happier than he's been in a long time too. It's so nice to hear all their laughter. Family is such a wonderful blessing. There's so much to learn from the love of family.

I hope you and your family really get to experience the love and fellowship Christmas is all about! May you enjoy the peace only God can give. I hope your heart is so full of love for family and friends that Jesus beams out of your heart.

The Spaghetti Junctions of Life


"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or the left, that you maybe successful wherever you go." Joshua 1:7 (NIV)


Sometimes God will ask us to do things we don't feel equipped to do, doesn't He? There may even be times we cry out, "Wait a minute Lord, I'm not ready for this." But you know He supplies us with everything we'll ever need when He gives us the Holy Spirit to guide and direct our lives, coupled with staying strong in His word.


I was thinking about what a wonderful privilege it is to be a part of God's family on my way to Decatur the other day. We're all on a mission given by God in life, or we should be. I imagine Joshua, at times, was shaking in his boots over some of the things he had to face, but he didn't waver because he had the Lord on his side. We have the same Almighty God guiding us today.


We also have each other to confide in and comfort one another. (Read 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, carefully especially verses 13-18.) If you've ever rode down through Atlanta GA. there's an area of road called "Spaghetti Junction,"where the road literally looks like a big pile of spaghetti. In this stretch of road lanes and exit ramps go every which way.


People driving this area better know where they're going. They need to be on a mission and stick to it. Failure to stay on track could lead you into bad areas, where it's possible to loose your life in an accident, or fall victim of a thug. I've met so many different brothers and sisters in life on the "spaghetti junction" roads of Christianity. It's so important to stay on God's path for your life. Deviations can be harmful, and even deadly. Though we have different callings our destination is the same -home with Christ in heaven.


What a blessing all of you have been that I've met on this journey. You've encouraged and loved me; my life has been so much richer because of you. You're part of God's church, also known as the body of Christ and I love you. Hopefully I've helped you as you've helped me. It was so good to be together. I thank God for you.


May we all be able to say like Paul when we approach our destination: "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

in the future is laid up for for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing." Second Timothy 4:6-8 (NIV)

Lord please show them the Love of God through my life


"Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SANDS OF THE SEA,IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED; FOR THE LORD WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, THOROUGHLY AND QUICKLY. and just as Isaiah foretold,


"UNLESS THE LORD OF THE SABBATH HAD LEFT TO US PROSPERITY,

WE WOULD HAVE BECOME LIKE SODOM, AND WOULD HAVE RESEMBLED

GOMORRAH."


What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is obtained by faith; but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at the law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, just as it is written,


BEHOLD I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE,

AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. "

I'm sure you're saying, "What-those are the same verses she used yesterday. Yes, they are, but they're weighing heavy on my mind again today. Read them slowly, even if you can perform God's wishes to a tea without faith and true belief in Him your works are dead.


Yesterday, I met a lady while getting my treatment who urged with me diligently that she "felt she was a "good person" who practiced a certain religion since she was a child, but doubted God loved her. When I asked her if she felt empty inside her reply was, "You can't even imagine the emptiness I feel inside. I feel so empty, I've tried to kill myself more than five times and almost seceded."


She also informed me that she despised the "church." Her exact words were, "The "church"is full of nothing but "goody two shoes who think they're better than everyone else. They don't really love, or want to be loved. They're just wrapped up in their "church lives" - not in helping or loving others." She said this with so much hate and pain in her eyes, I wondered if I was encountering a demon posed person.


She released so many things in the four hours we were together. I listened earnestly and said little. I did ask her to go home and slowly read and meditate on the book of John. I also asked her to slowly and diligently read Romans after the book of John. I reminded her that if we truly seek Jesus with all our heart and soul He promises to reveal Himself to us. Asking Jesus to forgive my sins and accepting Him as my Savior was the one and only way I ever filled the void and obtained true peace.


How about you, are you following a "religion," or following Jesus as your Savior through faith? The peace that passes all understanding only comes from the stone that the "builders" rejected. What a difference Jesus makes! Just as the last verse says, "And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed." Through life, and even in the presence of death Jesus is there.


Maybe I'll never see this lady again, but I hope she found the love of Jesus in me.

You Are Not Here By Chance


God had a purpose for you before you were ever born. You are not here by chance. There are so many scenarios that could have happened the day you were conceived, regardless of the circumstance, you were made in the image of God to glorify Him. He created you with a purpose.


"For this is the word of promise:" At this time I shall come And Sarah SHALL HAVE A SON."


And not only this, but there was Rebekah also, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac; for thou the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God's purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls, it was said to her, "THE OLDER WILL SERVE THE YOUNGER." Just as it is written, "JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED." Romans 9:9-13 (NIV) *Note: The capitalized words are what God said.


If you ever doubted you have a purpose please mark these verses in your Bible. If you don't know what you should be doing- ask God you show you through His word and in your life what He wants you to do. You're drawn to God and His word for a reason-you belong to God. Jesus died for you, now live for Him.


"And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He also called, not from among the Jews only, but also from among the Gentiles." Romans 9:23 &24 (NIV)


Every child of God is a vessel of mercy. You must walk by faith, not just by sight, according to His purpose in Christ Jesus. Your life does not belong to you, all of Gods creation was created for His glory.

Pursue Righteousness through Faith. Faith is a gift from God. Because of your faith you'll see God. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light. No man comes to the Father except through the Son.


(Romans chapter 8 and 9 are chucked full of purpose for any believer! Read it slow and savor every morsel like a tender juicy piece of T bone steak, it will satisfy your hungry soul! :)

He's Present in every part of Life


"I even I , am he who comforts you.

Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction?"

I woke up this morning with a bloody taste in my mouth and horrible pain in what's left of my intestines. Most of you know I started Chemo a couple of weeks ago to try to put the Crohn's back into remission. This Wednesday, I'll go back for another treatment. I often wonder whether it's worth struggling through for more pain, when it would be easier to just let go, and let this disease finish what it has started.


But, there's another part of me who wants to stay with family and friends a little longer. I'd love to rock grandchildren, make love again and laugh with family and friends. There are so many people I'd love to hug at least once more, so I will fight, at least til God calls me home.


God's constant presence is such a wonderful blessing. There's nothing we have to endure alone. He's there to protect, love and guide every step of the way. God is always so good especially when life is difficult.


I know the holidays can be especially difficult for many of us. We've lost family or friends in death, or severed relationships. That kind of pain can be worse than physical pain. Regardless of the kind of pain we're enduring, we can all reach out to God. He is the Reason for the Season. No one else loves us more. Jesus bridged the gap from sin back to our Heavenly Father through His life, death and resurrection.

A Train Wreck called Desire

I don't always like to follow directions, many of you who really know me know that. I had my first Chemo treatment last Thursday. My intestines felt so good when I came home. I was giddy, (I felt super relaxed and great.) We never reached Jefferson until after six o'clock, so Mark asked if I'd like some fast food, that was probably a mistake. In the back of my mind I've had a huge breast piece of chicken, two helpings of Cole slaw and a biscuit to sop up the coleslaw juice from Kentucky Fried Chicken for over a month. I love it, but it doesn't love me.


So we stopped in there and got us some. It was so good, I ate every greasy piece 'til it was gone! Latter I topped all that nastiness off, with a chocolate sundae, with three cherries on top and lots of cashew nuts. Mercy it was delicious, when I went to bed I thought I'd died and went to heaven. I felt like a hungry old cat who'd ate all her favorites and went to bed purring.


But then came the morning; have ever had one of those, "Oh poo- What did I do moments?"

Well this was one of mine, obviously the Crohn's didn't go away. My head was splitting and my innards were kicking my hinnie from one end to the other with horrible pain. Rose Anna-Rose Anna Danatana says it best, "I was tired and achy, my whole body felt like, ...well you get the picture."


Desire can be such a deceiving culprit can't it? I'm sure Satan was laughing with delight as I woke up in horrible pain on Friday. Honestly that chicken and ice cream tasted so good, but it hurt so bad. Pray for me I'm tired of eating mushy soft foods, but they really are best right now. Lord knows I don't need KFC or ice cream, I'm not wasting away by no means.

Less is Best!


"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad your whole body will be full of darkness, how great is that darkness!" Matthew 6:22 (NIV)




I often wonder why people say or do the things they do. In fact, I specifically asked God to show me why. Those words seemed to almost glow off the page as I read them the other day during my first Chemo treatment. Wow-now that makes sense.




If a person truly isn't experiencing God, or His light he or she will not act in the light of reality , they're just doing what they know is best in the dark. Bless their heart, they can't see the damage or pain they're causing. Unless we show them that light, through love, will they ever seek the light? Not until Jesus touches their eyes and heart with sight and love.




Another book I tried to read, but fell asleep after the treatment started working, was a book called, "Walking in the Light" by Leo Tolstoy. I love that writer, he's one of my favorites! Leo was talking about how Jesus asked the disciples to give everything away and follow Him. He pointed out such a basic principle that never really hit me until the other day like a brick. Possessions bind us down with obligations to maintain them. The Less we have in Life the easier it is to be free.




Think about it every house you've owned needed to be maintained, cleaned and added bills to your expenses. Every car you've owned had to be gassed, greased and should have been serviced regularly to drive it without worry. Farms must be planted, cultivated and harvested. Boats are like cars they need maintenance to be trustworthy.




Yes, I understood those verses before, but there's a beauty in rereading verses with age and experience. The Bible never grows old or stale. It's new and practical with every day if your heart and eyes are open. God continually reveals life in a new light through His word. The images of life grow clearer with experience, God's grace and His leading.




"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or fathers or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first." Matthew 18:29 & 30 (NIV)




Think about it-Isn't it easier to focus on people with the fewer "things" you have?
It's easier to keep your eye on the prize with less distractions. People are more important than things.


While I say this I'm looking at a dirty house that needs to be cleaned, :0 and I have about as much energy today as a popcorn fart. See if I didn't have this house-the dirt wouldn't matter to me. :D

Pearls

Have you ever considered how much work it takes a muscle, or an oyster, to make a pearl? Someone at The Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois wrote a beautiful example of how a pearl is really made. If you ever have a chance to go to The Field Museum, please go, it is an absolutely awesome place. I have been there only twice; but I could spend days, upon days there. You can't imagine how many awesome facts and interesting stories their collections provide!


A mollusk, (commonly referred to as a shell) are known as Bivalves which means they are filter feeders. A mollusk opens it's shell just enough to siphon in water over it's gills. In this process they take in oxygen to breathe and food particles, such as plankton, for energy and growth.


Sometimes an irritating particle becomes lodged in the muscle's tissue. If that irritating piece of food or sand isn't flushed out it becomes wedged between the mollusks shell and fleshy tissue. Ironically, as it breaks through the muscle tissue to the shell layer it makes a hole in that muscle tissue. The natural thing for that Mollusks body to do is to fill in the hole, which it does. Because there's still something foreign there it just keeps layering minerals and proteins on that irritant. Eventually there is a pearl inside that shell from all that festering. Isn't ironic something beautiful can come from a problem?


Just for a minute I want you to think about the trials and illnesses in our lives, for example cancer. Foreign pathogens are constantly passing through our bodies. Most of the time our bodies can get rid of them. But some pathogens find a weak area where they can attach,grow and even multiply. Over time, or left on treated those foreign pathogens kill us. The truth is all living things on this planet eventually die. Regardless of the trials any life presents give God the glory and make the most of the time you're given.


Can't we like the mollusk fester beauty in suffering? With God's grace we can. We will either find beauty or disaster, it is your choice.


"Those that cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.


But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you.


What I have vowed I will make good.


Salvation comes from the Lord."

Sometimes giving of ourselves is harder than giving money or things. Whatever God asks you to give do it with happiness for the Lord. Life is about Him not us.


"Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." 2ND Corinthians 12:8 & 9 (NIV)


Child of God- you have everything you will ever need, not in yourself, but in Him. :)

Warriors and Builders accomplish great things together


"Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city." Proverbs 16:32 (NIV)






Wouldn't we all rather be the patient man who doesn't have to fight? The Lord knows I would rather not fight, yet there are appointed times when a fight is inevitable. Like it, or not God puts us into battle to stand up for what's right, to defend the helpless, or to take a city.






"The lot is cast into the lap, but every decision is from the Lord."



Proverbs 16:33 (NIV)






God chooses who will go into battle with the purpose to win the fight. If God has called you to be a warrior fight for God! Count on Him for wisdom, grace and sustenance throughout the battle and emerge the victor in Christ. Even if you loose the battle, Christ will win the war, fight with all you have in Christ! Battles often strengthen our body and minds. They can also draws us closer to God. Isn't that why we are here?






First Chronicles chapter 28, is an interesting chapter you might enjoy reading. David wanted to build a temple to house the ark of the covenant for the Lord, but God said, "No." God chose David to be a warrior, not a builder. God appointed David's son, Solomon, to build the temple.






God the Father knows best. He makes no mistakes. We must follow His directions.






"So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.






And you my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with whole hearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever."

God puts warriors and builders together for a reason. The warrior knows from experience that regardless the situation God will ultimately fulfill His will. The builders create God's design. It takes both the warrior and the builder to fulfill God's mission.

We All Disappoint God


"The holidays can be a very unfulfilling time can't they? Most of us begin with "great expectations," that somehow inevitably take a major dive. Yet, every year we seem to build those great expectations hoping life will be better this time.






Obviously this year is no exception, yesterday my husband of almost 30 years told me I was a "selfish, self centered B (I'll let you finish that word.)" He went on to say, "Last year we brought you home from the hospital after your surgery. This year we have to go through chemo treatments with you. You just ruin every holiday anymore."






I really had nothing to say to that. I put my straw hat, pulled it down in hopes that no one would see me cry and went outside to pull weeds. Frankly, I will be glad when I don't have to endure anymore of these, "Merry Christmases or Thanksgiving" on earth. Even my excitement about Heidi's return has been squashed like a bug. She'd rather be spending her holidays in Italy with her friends. Pulling weeds and a good cry helped me put life back into perspective.






Imagine how God feels when His family fails over and over again. Through all that He keeps loving and guiding us, wow, now that's true love. What a great example of parenting! Yet I know He has limits too.






"The lord was grieved that He had made man on earth, and His heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said I will wipe mankind from the face of the earth-men, animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and the birds of the air for I am grieved that I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord."

All through the Bible right to the end He keeps trying and we keep failing. Sometimes He even gets frustrated with His chosen people in Jerusalem.






"You have rejected me," declares the Lord.



"You keep on backsliding." So I will lay hands on you and destroy you; I can no longer show you compassion." Jeremiah 15:6 (NIV)






I was talking to a close friend the other day. She asked if I remembered the pictures of Jesus carrying around a lamb. Sure I do that was one of my favorite pictures I remember in our church down stairs, maybe in a Sunday school room. She said the reason Shepard's carry those little lost sheep around is because the Shepard broke it's leg. It is better for the Shepard to break it's leg and carry it than constantly have to wonder off leaving the fold, to find the wondering one. By the time the wandering sheep's leg heals that sheep always wants to stay close to the Shepard. Besides saving him from the wolves the shepard has personally fed and cared for the straying lamb.




Aren't we often referred to as God's sheep? Do the trials in life bring you closer, or push you farther from God? It depends on your spirit, doesn't it?






Finally consider Hebrews chapter 12, read the whole thing for yourself. The day will come when God shakes the whole heaven and earth-so that what can not be shaken remains. (Faith, Love, Hope, God, our security in Christ... you know the things that can not be bought or made by man's hands only through God's love in us.)






"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that can not be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)






Maybe it's better that "family gatherings" aren't the "beloved events" we hoped for. We need to get our hearts and minds back on the One who really loves cares and is in control of our best interest at heart. We have an Awesome God who loves us enough to die and rise for us, that we might enjoy eternal life with Him.

Life Belongs to God


"Jesus did many other things as well. If everyone of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." John 21:25 (NIV)


Often it is not always easy to see what God is doing in and through our lives is it? Yet, when I read this verse there's so much comfort. Although I can't see where all of this is going God Knows and is in control.


"Jesus said,"Feed my sheep. I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands and someone will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, Follow me!"

The farther I go with God the more I understand it's more important not to always know why, but more important to know that whatever happens God controls my destiny. I am here to glorify God, how ever God chooses to use me.

The Best Part of my Life


"I always thank God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. I pray that you be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints." Philemon 1:4-7 (NIV)


I can't express my feelings with mere words how much I love some of you. Some of you are in my biological family, but I think almost all of you who read this are in the family of God. When I think about how you've prayed and encouraged me over the years I wish you could feel the glowing embers of love in my heart for you.


I was thinking of you all on my drive to Decatur to see the doctor yesterday. Of all the wonderful things I've seen and felt in my life, love really is my most treasured gift. Because of your love I have been warmed and cheered on some of my life's stormiest days. Your love encourages me when I think I can not go on. It inspires me to try when I would have rather given up and just laid down and died.


The power of your prayers has prompted God to restore my health, lift my spirits and healed my flesh. If ever you doubt God is listening to you, think of me. He listens and restores because of your faithfulness to Him.


Then I think about God's love, that really pours out the tears of love and joy. What an awesome Savior. What are we God that you're mindful of us? You create us, sustain us and even love us so much you'd give your life for us. great is your faithfulness, love and mercy. With all that you also give me these wonderful sisters and brothers in Christ who love like you do.


Love definitely is and was the best part of my life!

Why Charity Needs to Begin at Home

"And my God shall meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (NIV)



We have been taught that God will supply all our needs. For most us that faith is made sight through how our fathers and mothers took care of us. If those basic needs weren't met as a child it's hard for anyone to imagine a loving Heavenly Father caring for them. That is why it is critical for all family members to meet each others basic needs first.



I was reminded again this week that all our family members may not know Christ as their personal Savior. Our actions regarding their needs may pull them from Him, or they may lead them to Him. The way we care and love our family members may help them to choose life in Christ, or eternal damnation because they can't see the difference Christ makes in our life.



"Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. The widow who is truly in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and ask God for help. But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. Give the people these instructions too, so that no one may be open to blame. If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." 1 Timothy 5:3-8 (NIV)

How sad would you be to know a loved one went to hell because you neglected their physical, emotional and spiritual needs? Have you ever sought popularity in church, or cu dos from society instead of meeting a family members needs? Maybe we all have at one time or another, but God put us in the family we're in for a reason. Mend those family fences before it's to late. Family memories need to be seasoned with lots of love, grace and forgiveness. Start with the basic needs first. When the basic needs are met, then love and happiness will follow.

God's Filters in Our Lives


"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Ephesians 4:14-16 (NIV)




"David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished." 1 Chronicles 28:29 (NIV)

I was thinking about the importance of filters in our lives yesterday as I was cleaning out my goldfish pond. Think about the human body's filtering systems. For example the kidneys filter out impurities and balance our chemical structure.Without them we would die within 24 to 48 hours. Each kidney is only three inches long, but together they filter over 48 gallons of water and blood every day. Forty-seven gallons of those transporting liquids are reabsorbed into our body. We release the other gallon through the final filter system of urination.




As Christian brothers and sisters we need to help each other examine and help sort each others problems. That is why close fellowship with at least a few close believers is so important. Time alone with God and in his word is even more vital for a Christian. God's word is a bright pure light that shines on our soul. If applied it can pierce and remove the crud in our lives. Sometimes it takes another Christian's view to point out our problem areas. Either way, God uses both for correction, which ultimately prolongs our days and our happiness.




"He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness.


It is not by strength that one prevails; those who oppose the Lord will be shattered. He will thunder against them in heaven; the Lord will judge the ends of the earth.


He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed."

"So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?




The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him,"Since you have asked for this and not a long life or wealth for yourself, nor have you asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be."

Discernment and wisdom are worth more than gold. God's precepts and lifestyle will give you true happiness and a long life. As you please God He will provide; most of the time He will grant you more than you need. But remember He judges your motives more than the actions.




"When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge.




Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known." Proverbs 14: 32 & 33 (NIV)




Did you notice the Bible says "when calamity comes" it doesn't say if it comes. Everyone will experience pain in life. God isn't being mean or bitter- this is simply part of life. If you were born you will hurt, live through sorrows, and taste bitterness. It's your choice whether to get back up and enjoy the pleasure and happiness in life. Life isn't about waiting for the rain to stop, we have to learn to dance in the rain.




"And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.




Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me- put it into practice. He is Faithful

Have any of you ever listen to any of Wayne Watson's music? I took a sentimental journey as I caught up on some deep cleaning around here. I put one of his old Cd's in Monday and cried like a baby as I remembered all the good things God has done throughout my life. God is Always faithful even when I'm not. (My Bible reading sometimes gets pushed aside while I occupy my life with what I think I "have to do, " for example washing walls and cleaning cupboards.)





There's a song called, "Watered Colored Ponies," on one of Wayne's CD. I've played it so much I'm amazed it still plays. Children are an awesome blessing from God, but all too soon the Watered colored ponies really do ride away. There are no more finger paintings hanging from the refrigerator door, the smudges of kisses from little faces have all been washed from the windows, and the only laughter from our children's young voices exists only in our minds.





May God provide children somewhere around you all the days of your life. People of all ages keep our minds healthy and happy. Is there anything as sweet as a child laughter, or an older persons smile? What can compare to hugs from any of those you love-Nothing!





Time really does fly, I remember hearing the words, "Baby, what will we do when it comes back to me and you?" Before I knew it suddenly Mike and Heidi had grown up and gone. Mark and I were alone again.





Before that time, both Michael and Heidi were saved by grace, through Christ. (A mommas greatest JOY!) And just as I had asked God for their salvation, I also asked that they would mount up as eagles and do what He wanted all the days of their lives. Michael and Heidi did mount up as eagles, they are both soaring high for Jesus. God is so good and faithful.





There's another song on that CD called, "Somewhere in the World out there." I remember asking God to give Michael a Godly wife. So I was praying that whoever that little girl was Jesus would help her love God as well. I use to wonder what she'd look like, where she was and what she was doing. Ironically I seen some pictures of Neva when she was a little girl about a month ago. Guess what, she was this cute little girl in cowboy boots like Mike-about the same age. But while he was building snowmen in Michigan, she was probably playing outside in GA. Isn't it neat how God puts us all together?





God gave Michael and Neva to each other as marriage partners for life . :) She's beautiful, a lovely Godly Woman and they have a marriage grounded in Christ.We all love her very much. Michael is a wonderful son, you can't imagine how much I love my Michael. God has been so Good!





I use to ask God to please let Heidi go to college. She was an absolute little doll baby, born with styled hair, long eyelashes and a cute little round nose. I use to ask God to help her finish college and not quit like I did to get married. Heidi has her bachelor's degree; now she's going back for her Master's degree. She's dating a good Godly man and maybe they'll become a family.





Sure I still have unfulfilled blessings like grandchildren, but God has already gave me so many wonderful blessings. Sometimes I feel like God has given me a lifetime of Christmas mornings with lots of presents. Not all gifts come with ribbons and bows. The best ones are from God! Yes, there has been illness, death, horrible trials, and pain, but the good is what I remember, and there has been so much!

God keeps everyone of His promises. He fulfils every promise in our lives for His glory. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. May God help you see all the blessings He has bestowed on you, so you can glorify your Father in heaven.

Thou the sails are torn and battered the Anchor holds!



"Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of my Lord forever." Psalm 23:6






Tonight is one of those nights, I have to cling to Jesus, more than ever. The pain in my back from my spine all the way around to where my stoma exits my body is hurting bad. The wafer came off this afternoon and the blood flowed freely down my leg, to my foot. Chron's is a wicked, wicked disease that literally is eating my flesh and intestines away.






I'm so thankful we were able to go to church this morning. The service at Beech Haven Baptist in Athens was especially a blessing today. We were created to Glorify God! We are the only living creatures with a soul and spirit to have fellowship with God our Creator, Sustainer, Author and Finisher of our faith. He's been the constant Anchor in the midst of every one of my storms. Though this body, like a ship out on a rough sea, is bloody, battered, ripped and torn my Anchor holds in Christ Jesus!



If you want- pray for me, but if you do, pray for God's Will and Grace until this ship finally sails home. Heaven is where my heart and Savior is.
I go to Decatur for an MRI on Friday. Only God knows the number of my days, but whether I endure much more, or just a little more, I'm thankful for the journey. It's been a wild but enlightening ride. I have truly loved a full rich life, especially the days I've had with Jesus, my family and friends!

Open our Hearts Lord


We've all been there-frustrated over family members, or close friends that never accept Jesus. They hear the message, see the walk and are loved by people who show them compassion and understanding, yet they choose to turn away. Time runs out, the unbeliever dies. They are eternally separated from God and their believing loved ones.


"Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing they do not hear or understand."


In them is fulfilled the prophet of Isaiah:


"You will ever be hearing, but never understanding; you will ever be seeing, but never perceiving."


For this peoples heart is calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they close their eyes." Matthew 13:13-15 (NIV)


"When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This seed was sown along the path." Matthew 13:19 (NIV)


Even if the seed is sown sometimes it springs up among the weeds. Christians living among unbelieving friends and family, become weak from lack of nourishment of God's word and other believers. They get just enough spiritual food to exist, but they never thrive. Often they feel choked out by Satan's plot to keep their beloveds soul from God. The threat of your loved ones entering eternity without Christ is a huge weight on your heart. Rightfully so- Your family's eternal life is more important than their earthly life. (See Matthew 13:24-30)


Staying away from God's house and your Bible may cost your loved ones security in heaven. Although accepting Christ is a personal decision everyone must make for them self, what parents teach by doing is vital to how a child sees God. How horrible to consider your children never accepting Christ as their personal Savior, (especially if you neglected to live for Christ.) Personally, I'd rather die ten times over.


Then there are the believers who spring up so quickly in rocky soil. Gun hoe to be a "Christian" because everyone else around them is one. They want what others have , but are not willing to grow in faith through trial, or circumstance. Believer beware, in every life a little rain must fall. They cry out, "Why did God let this happen? He doesn't love me!" So ends their adventure in the "Christian Life." Bad times do fall on "good people." Would any of us ever grow without trial and error? I couldn't have. (See Matthew 13:20-23)


God is the only One who can give sight, hearing and belief to the unbelieving heart. We need to pray hard for those we love who are not grounded in Christ. We all need good soil and food to grow. For Christians that consists of a Godly group of believers, grounded in God's Word daily to thrive. Studying your Bible alone is even more important. Remember this is a "personal relationship with Christ." Groups and friends are wonderful, but you'll soon fall if there's not a one on one relationship with Christ.


If you're living with a non believer or weak Christan, try reading your bible daily. Do Not force it down your spouses throat. Quietly consume it on your own, until they want to share it with you. When he/she asks why you're reading and trying to live it out, explain how you want to live for Christ. This might be a good time to express your love and desire that all your family would know Christ. Most true believers see Christ in a loved one, or friend prior to becoming a believer. The peace which surpasses all understanding is inviting and intriguing. God designed the human heart with a void only He can fill.



Imagine the joy in your home if Christ became the center of every one's life. No it doesn't mean you'll never fight. Believe me, married believers fight-I know this first hand. Growing together and knowing your spouse and children will be in heaven is an awesome blessing.


The Church is far from perfect. In fact, it's just a group of forgiven sinners who meet and try to encourage each other to try to follow Christ. There is sin in every part of Christ's church, some of it is down right ugly, but the good far out weighs the bad.


"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he went out and hid it again, and then in his joy he went and sold everything he had and bought that field."


"Again the kingdom of heaven is like a a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."

I hope what you've found in Jesus is worth sharing especially with those you love. We only have one life, but if it is lived well, that's enough to glorify God. Life is short; don't leave earth without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. :) Love ya

When you think Jesus doesn't know Consider these things...


If you've ever doubted that Jesus knew what you're going through read what he says in the New Testament. He knows everything that has and will happen. Don't be afraid because He has sent the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort you.


"Be on your Gard against men; they will hand you over against the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." Matthew 10:17-20 (NIV)

If you are one whom the Son has chosen to reveal salvation to I pray you'll have the strength to endure as long as He gives you breath. Life can be hard but it is well worth the journey with God on our side. Grasp every thing you can learn from God. He's preparing you for eternity!
Jesus is the bridge to God the Father.

Don't be Way Laid by False Prophets


"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of the world rather than on Christ." Colossians 2:8 (NIV)



"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ."

Colossians 2:16 & 17 (NIV)



"Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch! These are all destined to parish with use because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence." Colossians 2:21-23 (NIV)



Isn't that interesting? When Paul wrote this he was warning his Christian brothers and sisters to stay away from people who worshiped different phases of the moon. Today we still have people celebrating these things. They are FALSE doctrine-stop it.



He also warned against people who make a big fuss about what others may eat, such as pork, or drink, such as wine. In fact, there are at least three different verses in the Bible that I can think of that say that a little bit of wine is good for the stomach. There are SEVERAL verses on gluttony, which is a sin, but that is rarely addressed in the church today.



As time goes by, it is especially important to read your Bible and follow what it says. You will not be accountable for man's laws, but we are all accountable to God's laws.



Paul hit it smack on the head when he said, "with their self imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence."



In other words they were distracting others from real problems such as sexual immoralities to focus on non-sense. Christian, do not get caught up in the non sense and political correctness of this day and age; you are accountable for what God says.

Train up a child in the way he or she should go and when he is old he will not depart from it-how true. I'm so thankful that when I was little, before I could read my mother let me look at the pictures in her Bible. I wanted to know the stories, so she took me to Sunday School.


I'm thankful for all the wonderful teachers I've had in and out of schools. They hold a special place in my heart. The great ones taught so much more than just book knowledge. Your love and kindness will always be appreciated!


I know the joy of my children's salvation! As a mom I consider their salvation one of my very best blessings from God! It's a gift even better than my own salvation, because I love them more than my own life. It's easier to live and die knowing one day we'll all meet up in heaven again.


Wisdom should begin at home. Where ever it begins, I hope you'll seek wisdom, grace and love in God, all the days of your life.

Forgive and You will be Forgiven


"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2ND Timothy 3:16 (NIV)


"Do not judge or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.


For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins , your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:13-15 (NIV)


That old familiar pain shoots straight to our heart, riping betrayal, abrupt stabbing pressure because what we did wasn't "good enough," or that stinging slap of rudeness, after you've tried so hard to please someone. All of those things are horribly painful. If they didn't go straight to your heart, then they're sure to shoot under your skin like a sharp fat thorn. Roses and Love have so much in common. Roses like love are beautiful, but roses and love both have thorns. You have to be very careful and patient with both. If you want a long stemed rose you have to cut it very carefully. If you want Love you'll have to forgive the thorns of pain.


The arrows of emotional hurts left untreated will literally kill you. The slivers and thorns can fester and become infected. It's better for you and the person who hurt you to confront them in a gentle matter. Outbursts only add gas to an already hot flame.


So often, I don't think people really even know when they've hurt anyone. I mess up daily, but often don't even realize what I did until someone says something. I seldom want to hurt others, especially the ones I love. When you love someone there will be times you offend and hurt each other, we're human-we sin.


Holding grudges hurts yourself worse than anyone else. Satan loves to fling those daggers that conquer and divide, don't let him. Forgiving others is more important for you than it is for those that sinned against you. Grudges are sin that can cause depression, which can lead to physical illness.

We often Ask Why-But God Knows

I'm going to share something with you I thought I'd NEVER share publicly. About eleven years ago Mark and I were in a horrible fight that lasted three horrible days. On the third day he threw me on the bed and was going to take what he wanted. I rolled back over and dug him as deep as I could with my finger nails across his chest.


He went to the emergency room for superficial wounds. The incident was reported and I went to jail. (Before this, I had never been to jail for anything.) I cried so hard from my shame, I could not make my one phone call. After falling asleep on that December 23rd, I awoke to a guards slithering hand moving down my jump suit, while another guard held my hands back. As the tears rolled, I was plotting how I'd hang myself from the bars with a sheet.Psychologically my mind and will were spent.


Two other inmates prevented my rape. One "crazy" lady jumped on the guards back who was touching me. She bit him until he bled and stopped touching me. Another lady pleaded with the other guard, until he took her in my place. To this day I don't know why they interceded for me.


A few hours before this happened I found a Bible and a copy of Our Daily Bread over in a corner. I picked it up and started reading, for my own comfort. The little crazy lady came over and asked if I'd read to her. I said, "sure." Before I knew it there were ten other women out of sixteen women gathered around me listening to Bible verses and stories from Our Daily Bread. I read until I got horse. Then I laid down and fell asleep. (Mark and I had been fighting so much; I was really tired.)


The little crazy lady was taken out and heavily medicated. She was still sleeping when I was sent home the next day. The lady who pleaded for them not to rape me was orally and anally raped. It still makes me cry to think about her. She only knew me for a few hours, but was willing to endure my pain and shame.


As bad as all this was, I have no doubt that regardless of whatever happens to this body, in this life, God is ALWAYS with me. I also learned that there are "good people" in bad places. More importantly I saw how much love God gave when He sent His sinless son to die for a broken sinful world, more than we can ever imagine.

Are you living for God?


"Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined then you are illegitimate children and not true sons." Hebrews 12:7 & 8 (NIV)


I remember reading that when I was about twelve years old, about a year after I had accepted Christ as my Savior. Flashing red lights seemed to go off in my head. "Well I must really belong to God because every time I even think about doing wrong I am caught and punished."


Through the years though I can honestly say that correction has kept me on the "straight and narrow for Christ," for the most part. The dangers of getting off God's path is that your life can take major dives, which sometimes can lead to mortal and even spiritual death. Such would be the case if you chose to totally deny God.


God is a Holy God. He expects us to accept Him and live as He asks. When we get to heaven there will be certain things God will not tolerate there either. Think about it- would you want sin and ugliness in a Holy and perfect place? God will not tolerate either.


"But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the first born, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

When I was a child I couldn't understand why a loving God would send people to hell. Over time there have been some horribly wicked people who do unspeakable things to others. Some people choose to live a life of pure sinfulness. They have no regard for God or even other human lives. I totally understand why they can not spend eternity in God's light. They came from the darkness and would hate God's purity, light and love. Heaven would not be a blessing to God or His sons or daughters with these souls there. Hell does have a purpose.


"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked before us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God.


Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and loose heart." Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
